Atty. Mary Louise Reyes has confirmed that a warrant of arrest has been issued for actress and comedian Rufa Mae Quinto.
According to Reyes, Quinto faces 14 counts of violating Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code, a case linked to Dermacare, the same company involved in the legal issues of former actress Neri Naig-Miranda.
Unlike Neri, Quinto is not facing charges of Estafa, which allows her to post bail. “She will voluntarily surrender and we will post bail for the charges. My client is very concerned because the allegations are not true,” Reyes explained. “She is merely a brand ambassador and a model-endorser.”
Reyes also stated that Quinto did not receive any payments or down payments, and that the checks involved had all bounced. “We have all the evidence to prove this and will present it in court,” she added.
Neri Naig-Miranda, on the other hand, was arrested last November 23 in a Pasay City mall. Her case also involved 14 counts of violation of the Securities Regulation Code, with bail set at ₱126,000 per count, amounting to almost ₱2 million. However, her Estafa charge did not allow bail.
