Who is Gloc-9? and What does he do with Chocolate Factory?

Chocolate Factory, an independent band hailing from Pampanga, is rooted in the belief that “the human spirit can overcome the constraints of blues, jazz, rock, and reggae.” Established in 2006, the group includes Antonio Brown (lead vocals), Jeffree Phill Dela Cruz (saxophone and keyboards), Khay Regala (drums), Louie Miguel Domingo (bass), and Mark Allan Ocampo (guitar).

Introducing Gloc 9:

Aristotle Condenuevo Pollisco, better known by his stage name Gloc-9, was born on October 18, 1977. He is a celebrated Filipino rapper, singer, and lyricist, often hailed as one of the greatest Filipino rappers ever. His rapid and fluid rap delivery has earned him a spot among the Philippines’ top-selling and most acclaimed hip-hop figures. Filipino rap icon Francis Magalona once described him as “a craftsman of words and letters, and a genuine Filipino poet.”

Dubbed the “King of Philippine Hip-Hop,” Gloc-9 is recognized for paving the way in the Filipino hip-hop scene and maintaining a towering presence over the years. Throughout his 25-year career, Gloc-9 has garnered more than 60 awards, including the ‘Sudi National Music Award’ from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. His trophy case also boasts 2 FAMAS Awards, 21 Awit Awards, 18 Myx Music Awards, and 9 PMPC Star Awards. His albums “Liham at Lihim” (Platinum) and “MKNM: Mga Kwento Ng Makata” (Gold) have both received sales certifications from PARI. In 2019, he was honored with an induction into the Calle Con Hall of Fame.

Gloc-9’s collaborations span nearly a dozen songs with other OPM artists, including “Lando” with the late Francis M, “Upuan” with Jaezelle, “Bagsakan” with Parokya ni Edgar, “Baon” with Gab Chee Kee of Parokya ni Edgar and Francis M, and “Sari-Saring Kwento” with Noel Cabangon and Champ Lui Pio. His music frequently addresses social issues, touching on topics of injustice, poverty, and nationalism. His journey in music began with the gangsta rap group Death Threat.
