Food Expo Malaysia 2026 Inaugurated in Kuala Lumpur, Strengthening Global Food Industry Collaboration

The Food Expo Malaysia 2026 was successfully inaugurated on April 14, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, marking the beginning of a three-day international exhibition that will run until April 16, 2026. The event brings together industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders from across the global food and beverage sector to showcase advancements, exchange ideas, and foster strategic partnerships.
The Expo was officially inaugurated by the Chief Guest, YB. Mohd Hasbie bin Muda, Former Senator and Member of the Dewan Negara Malaysia, who delivered the inaugural address. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was also attended by Mr. Vinay Anand, Attaché (Commerce), High Commission of India in Malaysia.
In his keynote address, YB. Mohd Hasbie bin Muda emphasized the critical importance of the food sector, stating that it is not only a key economic driver but also a vital component of society that connects people, preserves heritage, and sustains livelihoods. He highlighted the ongoing transformation in food processing, packaging, and supply chain innovation, underscoring their importance in ensuring food security, sustainability, and efficiency in an interconnected world.
He further noted that Malaysia, as a diverse and dynamic nation, is well-positioned to serve as a regional hub for food innovation and trade. Events such as this Expo, he said, play a crucial role in strengthening international partnerships, encouraging investment, and showcasing both local and global industry capabilities.
The Opening Remarks were delivered by Dr. Annathurai Ranganathan, Director of EPI Academy, who described the food industry as being at a pivotal crossroads shaped by evolving consumer preferences, technological advancements, and increasing focus on sustainability. He highlighted that the Expo serves as a vital platform for knowledge exchange, innovation showcase, and collaboration.
Dr. Annathurai also emphasized that the Expo is about more than just products and technologies—it is about building meaningful connections, fostering new ventures, and inspiring future leaders in the food industry. He noted Malaysia’s strategic position as a gateway to ASEAN markets and its vibrant ecosystem for trade, investment, and innovation.
The event also featured an address by Datuk Surendran Menon, General Secretary of the Malaysia India Business Council (MIBC), who highlighted the significance of the food and beverage sector as one of the most dynamic industries globally. He pointed out its critical role in driving economic growth, innovation, and employment.
Datuk Surendran further emphasized the immense potential of India’s food processing sector, noting its substantial market value and projected growth driven by urbanization, changing consumption patterns, and increasing demand for processed and ready-to-eat food products.
He also delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing appreciation to all dignitaries, participants, organizers, and partners for contributing to the successful inauguration of the Expo.
The Food Expo Malaysia 2026 is expected to attract a wide range of exhibitors, investors, and visitors from across the region and beyond, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a key hub for food industry innovation and international trade.
