The Banus River Flood Control Project at Purok 1, Brgy. Concepcion, Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro is done. It was done by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Mindoro Occidental District Engineering Office. The Mindoro West Coastal Road runs through a flood-prone area where the office is located.

The project makes it less likely for floods to happen, especially during typhoons. This is in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration’s promise to make the country more resistant to disasters and improve its important infrastructure. The project made people in Brgy. Concepcion feels safer and more at ease.
Shirley Juanillo, one of the residents, expresses her thoughts.

Juanillo said.

Junie A. Lupango, the Mindoro Occidental District Engineer, told DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, that the flood control structure is 478 meters long and has two parts. It also has an apron or mattress to protect against scour. The project is now an important safety measure that keeps people and property safe and makes life in the community safer and more secure.
