President Marcos Rejects Offensive Measures in West Philippine Sea

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stated that the Philippines has no plans to “attack anyone” and dismissed proposals to equip ships with water cannons.

“We are focused on defending our sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea. Using water cannons or any offensive measures is not part of our strategy,” Marcos explained during an interview at a Pasay City event.

Emphasizing a desire to avoid escalating tensions, he mentioned concerns about China’s actions in the area but emphasized that the Philippine Navy and Coast Guard aim to maintain peace, not provoke conflict.
