Massive Shabu Seizure Worth P218 Million at NAIA

At Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), 32.13 kilograms of crystal meth worth P218.48 million were seized, according to a statement released by the Bureau of Customs (BoC). On April 13, the shipment—falsely identified as a “machinery muffler”—was stopped at Paircargo. Consigned to Christine Tigranes of Balingasa Queen, Manila, who has been arrested on drug charges, Isaac Chikore from Harare sent the parcel.

According to Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, the illegal materials concealed inside the mufflers were discovered by the NAIA’s Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) working with the X-ray Inspection Project and K-9 units. The operation is in line with the command of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to forcefully tackle drug smuggling.

Deputy Commissioner Juvymax Uy backed CIIS Director Verne Enciso in emphasizing the value of intelligence collection and the agency’s commitment to locating and stopping deadly drug shipments.

Following Marcos’ recent inspection of a massive P13.3 billion shabu haul in Batangas, the BoC has demonstrated its dedication to the President’s anti-drug campaign with this seizure.
