Jalen Brunson Ignites Knicks to 2-0 Series Lead Against Pacers

Jalen Brunson made an incredible comeback from a right foot injury, scoring 29 points (24 in the second half) to lead the New York Knicks to an exciting 130-121 victory over the Indiana Pacers. With this win, the Knicks have a commanding 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Brunson’s comeback captivated the Madison Square Garden audience on the eve of the anniversary of Willis Reed’s historic debut in the 1970 NBA Finals. Brunson’s return at halftime ignited a stunning comeback for the Knicks, who had been out for the all of the second quarter while the Pacers led the way due to injury.

Despite missing the opportunity to become the first player to score forty or more points in five straight playoff games, Brunson’s performance and leadership helped the Knicks secure a crucial win that put them halfway to their first Eastern Conference finals trip since 2000.

“He’s a great leader, and the players all respect that,” said Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau in reference to Brunson. “His willingness to give his all speaks volumes about his character.”

The Knicks showed resiliency in the face of ailments, including the departure of OG Anunoby owing to a left hamstring injury, thanks to terrific performances by Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo, who both made major contributions to the team’s victory.

Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with an outstanding 34 points, but his effort was not enough to overcome the Knicks’ resolute play.

With more fierce confrontations and thrilling basketball moments anticipated, the series will now move to Indiana for Games 3 and 4 on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
