Ferdinand Dela Merced, a 48-year-old walker from Nueva Ecija, arrived in Ormoc City on July 7, 2025 as part of his year-long trek across all 82 Philippine provinces in a bid for a Guinness World Record.
Welcomed by Vice Mayor Leo Carmelo Locsin Jr. and city officials, Dela Merced was also joined by local off-road enthusiast Fredie Lagong Segovia, who urged the public to support the journey as a source of national pride.
The walk, which began at Kilometer Zero in Luneta on January 2, is being documented on his Facebook page, where he highlights his encounters and the country’s scenic routes. (Ronald Reyes)
