Chinese car brand Omoda & Jaecoo in Cebu City has teamed up with fintech innovator Paytaca Inc. to introduce electric vehicle (EV) driving and cryptocurrency payment in the country. The partnership was officially sealed on February 28, 2025, at the Omoda & Jaecoo showroom in GMall of Cebu.

Joseph Carlo Japson, CEO of Omoda & Jaecoo Cebu, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, calling it the future of both industries.

“The electric vehicle market is still in its infancy, and this partnership is just the start of something big for the Philippines,” he said.

Paytaca Inc. CEO Dr. Joemar Taganna maintaied the inevitable shift toward cryptocurrency transactions.

Meanwhile, Aaron JP Almadro, Paytaca’s chief marketing officer, described the agreement as momentous, making Omoda & Jaecoo the first car brand in the world to accept Bitcoin Cash (BCH) as payment.

Among those present during the MOA signing were Omoda & Jaecoo Cebu’s Chief Marketing Officer Jonathan Joey Japzon, Miss Cebu 2025 Christine Escanilla, HiveRooms Founder and CEO Herbert Dionzon, Paytaca Brand Ambassadress Demi Mari Daga, Brand Evangelists Cladge and Mitch, independent filmmaker Gianfranco Morciano, and other guests.

Paytaca, launched in 2018, has established itself as the Philippines’ first Bitcoin Cash (BCH) wallet and payment solution, steadily expanding its merchant network across the Philippines and internationally, including Hong Kong, Australia, Taiwan, and other European and African countries.
