The new Bunganay Flood Control Project, constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), makes it safer for residents of Barangay Bunganay in Boac, Marinduque, to be outside during periods of heavy precipitation. The project was overseen by the Marinduque District Engineering Office (DEO).

DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan was informed by District Engineer Richard Emmanuel P. Ragragio that the project involved constructing a 394-linear-meter flood control structure with 6.00-meter steel sheet piles for added strength. This design ensures that the building will endure and not be destroyed by frequent floods.
The region has long been at risk for flooding. It destroys property, endangers lives, and prevents farmers from making a living. Now that this project is complete, the neighborhood’s residents are aware of flood safety measures. Since it protects their food and finances, farmers gain the most from the increased security for their crops and livestock.

There is more to the Bunganay Flood Control project than just construction. It protects Boac residents’ homes, jobs, and strength.
