MANILA — De La Salle University (DLSU) finds itself in an unfamiliar position in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament after falling to a 2-3 record, following an 82-78 defeat to National University (NU) on Sunday.
This marks the first time that Green Archers head coach Topex Robinson has recorded more losses than wins in his UAAP career with the Taft-based squad, a setback that adds pressure on the defending champions to regain their winning rhythm.
Making matters worse, key forward Mason Amos sustained an apparent right knee injury during the matchup against the Bulldogs. The incident occurred midway through the fourth quarter when Amos’ knee collided with NU’s Gelo Santillan. He was visibly in pain and had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair with over six minutes remaining in the game.

“He will have his MRI tonight. Based on what he told us, he heard a pop when he got hit,” Robinson said, expressing concern over Amos’ condition.
Despite the unfortunate injury, Robinson emphasized that the collision was “part of the game,” underscoring the physical nature of collegiate basketball.
As the Green Archers look to bounce back, Amos’ health remains a top concern. His potential absence could significantly impact La Salle’s campaign as they aim to recover from a rocky start and climb back into playoff contention in UAAP Season 88.
