Dr. Ea Kristine Clarisse Tulin-Escueta, a rising scientist from the Visayas State University (VSU) in Baybay City, Leyte, has returned to her home university after completing a prestigious post-doctoral fellowship at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

She is the first #ProudViscan to complete a research fellowship at Harvard, where she worked on developing anti-glycan monoclonal antibodies — key tools in studying the brain, blood group antigens, and cancer.
Now back in the Philippines, Dr. Tulin-Escueta is eager to teach biotechnology at VSU, hoping to inspire and mentor young scientists while helping to build a strong scientific community in Eastern Visayas.
Her journey in science was shaped by some of the world’s leading experts. In the U.S., she trained under renowned biochemist Dr. Richard D. Cummings. Her doctoral studies in Japan were guided by Dr. Atsushi Nishikawa, a respected name in glycobiology. At home, she draws inspiration from her father, former VSU President and award-winning scientist Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin, as well as from Dr. Ma. Theresa P. Loreto, the outgoing director of VSU’s Advanced Research and Innovation Center.
