DPWH Delivers Typhoon-Resilient School Facility for Torrijos Central School

Torrijos, Marinduque – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Marinduque District Engineering Office has successfully completed the construction of a new two-storey, ten-classroom school building at Torrijos Central School (TCS) in Barangay Poblacion, Torrijos, Marinduque.

The new structure replaces the old school building located beside Torrijos Stadium, which was severely damaged by a typhoon two years ago, leaving Grade 3 to 6 students and teachers without safe and functional classrooms.

In his report to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, District Engineer Richard Emmanuel P. Ragragio detailed that the school building has a total floor area of 1,045 square meters. Each classroom can accommodate 45 to 50 students and is equipped with modern facilities designed to support a safe and conducive learning environment.

The project is implemented under the DPWH–Department of Education (DepEd) convergence program and is funded through the Basic Educational Facilities Fund (BEFF) of the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

With this newly completed facility, we are not only rebuilding classrooms but also strengthening the foundation for a safer and more resilient learning environment for the children of Torrijos,” said Regional Director Pacanan.

He added, “DPWH remains committed to building quality infrastructure that supports education and uplifts communities.
