Central Visayas’ Asia Paraase Grabs First Gold at 2024 Palaro

On Thursday morning, July 11, Asia Paraase won the secondary girls’ 3000m competition at the Cebu City Sports Center Track Oval, earning her the first gold medal of the Palarong Pambansa this year.

The 17-year-old Paraase won the championship title for her region, Central Visayas (Region 7), after finishing the race in 10:27.36.

Paraase, a Pajo National High School incoming Grade 12 student, defeated Chrishia Mae Tajarros and Mary Jane Pagayon, who won the silver and bronze medals, respectively. Tajarros finished the race in a time of 10:39.72, while Pagayon finished in 10:52.72, barely beating out Princess Rosal, who finished in fourth place, by 0.2 seconds.
