Cebu Pacific Cancels 6 Tacloban Flights Due to Runway Closure

Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) has announced the cancellation of six Tacloban flights scheduled for Thursday, despite the recent resumption of Tacloban airport’s runway operations on Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement released on Wednesday evening, CEB listed the following flights that are canceled on April 4:

  • DG 6569/6570: Cebu – Tacloban – Cebu
  • 5J 649/650: Manila – Tacloban – Manila
  • 5J 2901/2902: Manila – Tacloban – Manila

The airline explained, “Due to the runway closure at Tacloban Airport for emergency repairs, Cebu Pacific (CEB) has canceled its flights to Tacloban from Manila and Cebu scheduled from April 3 to 4, 2024. This situation is beyond our control, and we are collaborating closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines to evaluate the safety and operability of the runway.”

On Wednesday, eight CEB flights between Manila and Tacloban were also canceled due to the same runway closure.

Affected passengers, as well as those wishing to reschedule their Tacloban flights from April 4 to 5, are offered free rebooking without fare differences for up to 30 days from the original flight schedule. Additionally, they have the option to refund their ticket or store the amount in a virtual CEB wallet, as stated by the airline.
