Burauen, Leyte is making strides in digital innovation with an ambitious proposal to become the first municipality in the Philippines to implement an AI-based, search-engine-ready ordinance publication platform. This groundbreaking initiative is spearheaded by Honorable Councilor Bryan R. Cinco, a seasoned Search Engine Optimization (SEO) specialist, Python developer, and system analyst and design expert.
The proposed ordinance is currently under the first reading of the Sangguniang Bayan of Burauen, Leyte. A mock-up of the platform, already live at Burauen.com, has successfully uploaded 70% of the municipality’s public documents. This includes local ordinances dating back to the 1970s, offering constituents seamless access to Burauen’s legislative history.
Revolutionizing Access to Public Documents
The AI-powered platform is designed to provide accurate responses to inquiries about local laws. Unlike general AI systems, this platform will not generate answers independently; instead, it retrieves information directly from relevant sections of the ordinances. This ensures that users receive precise and reliable data without ambiguity.
“This initiative aims to modernize governance by providing easy access to public documents for our constituents,” said Councilor Cinco. “It will enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in our municipality’s legislative processes.”
A Call for Support
While the ordinance is still under deliberation, Councilor Cinco expressed optimism about its approval, emphasizing its potential to set a precedent for other municipalities in the country. He has also called for prayer and support from the public and his colleagues in the Sangguniang Bayan.
“With God’s grace, I hope this ordinance will be passed. It will be a significant step forward for Burauen and a model for other local governments in the Philippines,” he added.
Trailblazing Local Governance
If approved, Burauen’s AI-based ordinance publication platform could become a benchmark for integrating technology into local governance. It showcases how emerging technologies can be harnessed to address challenges in accessing public information, ultimately fostering better engagement between government and constituents.
