The Binduyan Bridge, which is on Puerto Princesa North Road in Barangay Binduyan, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, is being fixed up by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Palawan 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO). The project started to replace the damaged bridge abutments on both sides.

This was necessary because Typhoon Odette caused significant damage to the bridge and the surrounding riverbanks. Residents had been worried for a long time, especially during the rainy season, so the rehabilitation was a timely and important response. The old slope protection was taken down, fixed up, and extended to cover a larger area and be more reliable, along with the new abutment.

District Engineer Amelia B. Fajardo wrote to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, about the rehabilitation works. She said that they included fixing the bridge’s concrete slope protection, doing earthworks, building the bridge, improving drainage, and building other structures that were needed. The project makes the bridge stronger, which not only makes it safer for drivers and pedestrians but also makes it more resistant to extreme weather.

The repair is also expected to lower the risk of accidents, make typhoons and heavy rain less disruptive, and lower long-term maintenance costs, all while improving connectivity and supporting local businesses.
