Luka Doncic says injury is “very frustrating” as Lakers fight without him

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has been injured since early April. He suffered a hamstring injury in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 2. Doctors say it will take him roughly eight weeks to recover.

Doncic rushed to Spain to obtain a unique treatment called PRP, or platelet-rich plasma injections, to try to heal faster. These are things that help the body heal faster. This is one of the top venues in the world to obtain this sort of treatment.

“Everybody knows that it’s one of the best countries to do that. We talked with the Lakers doctors, so everybody agreed for me to go there.”

Doncic took four shots altogether and needed four days of recovery between each shot. That’s why he spent a long period in Spain. “I know a lot of medical folks there and I trust a lot of medical folks there because I’ve worked with them before,” he said.

The Lakers still did well when Doncic was absent. They defeated the Houston Rockets 4-2 in the first round. LeBron James, 41, scored a lot of points to help the team win.

The Lakers are now playing the Thunder in the second round. They lost, 108-90, in Game 1. If Doncic can’t return soon he could miss the entire series.

He stated he had started running again but hasn’t returned to full contact play yet. He really struggles to see his team perform without him.

“It’s very frustrating. All I want to do is play basketball, especially now. It’s the best time to play basketball.”

Doncic added he had to be careful too. He came back too quickly from injuries before and it did not go well. It’s his first hamstring injury and he understands it needs special attention. He said he is doing all he can to go back as soon as possible.
