Senator-Judge Panfilo "Ping" Lacson commended the presentation methods used by Rep. Jose Manuel "Chel" Diokno and expert witness Atty. Alexander Cabrera in the ongoing impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte. The impeachment proceedings involve allegations of unexplained wealth against Duterte.
Lacson noted that although he appreciated their presentation, it is essential to wait for the defense's cross-examination of Cabrera, scheduled for next week, before drawing any conclusions about the case.
In a post on social media platform X, Lacson highlighted that Diokno effectively laid out the issues pertaining to Article II of the impeachment complaint, which deals with the accusations of alleged unexplained wealth.
Rep. Terry Ridon indicated that after the cross-examination and related inquiries of Cabrera, the prosecution would present a formal list of evidence it wishes to be admitted to the court.
While recognizing Cabrera's credibility and experience, Lacson emphasized that his testimony remains inconclusive at this stage, as it may still be questioned by the defense and countered by its own experts. He stated that the senator-judges would ultimately determine which analysis and testimony are more credible once both sides have presented their evidence.
