Thailand will limit the visa-free stay for tourists from 60 countries, including the Philippines, from 60 days to 30 days starting September 15, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said. The adjustment comes after a new rule was published in Thailand’s Royal Gazette on Aug. 31. The amendment means tourists who previously got a 60-day visa exemption will now obtain either a 30-day visa exemption, a 15-day visa exemption, Visa on Arrival or another entry option, depending on their nationality. This halves the visa-free period Filipinos have enjoyed since Thailand extended its immigration regulations in July 2024. “Still, most Filipino tourists should not feel much impact as typical short vacations are usually under 30 days and that length of stay is still visa-free.”
Starting September 15, 60 countries and territories including the Philippines, the US, Japan and several European countries will be able to enter Thailand without a visa for tourist and stay up to 30 days. The TAT also said that foreigners applying for the 30-day visa exemption can enter Thailand at land border crossings not more than twice per calendar year. This does not apply to air arrivals.
