Rivals on the noontime show Vic Sotto and Vice Ganda are teaming up for the first time on the big screen. The two performers will star in a new movie named “The Greatest Showdown,” directed by Jun Robles Lana who previously helmed Vice Ganda’s past MMFF entries “Call Me Mother” and “And the Breadwinner Is…”
The movie was revealed by Star Cinema on social media, sharing a teaser poster of the film. “Get ready for a movie event that unites everybody with laughter!” the caption said. The tweet also described it as a memorable moment, adding superstar Vice Ganda and beloved icon Vic Sotto would finally share the big screen. Metro Manila Film Festival has not yet confirmed if the movie would be part of the Metro Manila Film Festival, although the poster states it will be presented in cinemas this 2026. Star Cinema, ABS-CBN Studios, The IdeaFirst Company, M-Zet Productions, and APT Entertainment are the producers of the film.
Following the internet announcement, the two stars staged a formal reception yesterday, July 5, at a mall in Quezon City. Vice Ganda stated, “Like the fans, I also waited for a long time for this moment. “We only get this kind of team-up once and I’ve wanted it for a long time and now it’s here,” he remarked. “That won’t be the last time fans get to see them together, because they will also be together in another film,” he continued.
“We have a surprise for our fans. I would like to thank my supporters and viewers for their support,” Vic Sotto remarked. This movie is something that he wants to give back to them,” he said. He also revealed that it was a long-time agreement with Vice Ganda that this film should provide happiness to Filipinos especially during these tough times the country is going through.
