San Rafael is one of the barangays in the Municipality of Roxas, Oriental Mindoro. Known for its close-knit community and simple way of life, the area continues to grow through various government and community initiatives that aim to improve the well-being of its residents.
In San Rafael, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, a new “Balay Aruga” has been constructed and will soon open to assist those in need, particularly elderly individuals who have been neglected or lack family support.
To help the elderly with their everyday needs, including receiving the proper care, taking their medications, and performing other crucial tasks, the community requested a secure and nurturing environment. Additionally, it guarantees that residents receive courteous and respectful treatment.
The OSCA President, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, Hermisita F. Sanz expressed gratitude to the builders for bringing “Balay Aruga” to life.

The goal of the project was to construct a one-story, multipurpose building with a floor area of 18 by 35.6 meters, according to a report from the Southern Mindoro District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). District Engineer Annielyn E. Padullo leads Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, the Regional Director of DPWH MIMAROPA, received the report.
The government hopes that “Balay Aruga” will be a community-focused, safe, and welcoming place for senior citizens to reside. The facility aims to provide medical care, facilitate social interaction, and assist individuals in meeting their everyday needs.
This project’s completion demonstrates the organization’s commitment to ensuring that no senior is left behind and has a secure residence where they are valued, cared for, and respected.
