MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is not interfering with the impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte, Malacañang clarified on Friday.
During a press conference in Pasay City, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin dismissed allegations from the Makabayan bloc in the House of Representatives that Marcos was allegedly causing delays in the impeachment proceedings against Duterte.
“President Marcos is not obstructing the process. He cannot do that because the matter is within the discretion of the House of Representatives as a collective body. If they decide to proceed, there is no way to stop it,” Bersamin explained.
He added that while Marcos has shared his opinions on the impeachment efforts, he is not pressuring or directing the lower house to slow down or impede the handling of the complaints.
