Residents and motorists in Buenavista, Marinduque are now experiencing faster and safer travel following the completion of the road widening project along the Marinduque Circumferential Road in Barangay Timbo, implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Marinduque District Engineering Office.
The newly improved road has shortened travel time from one hour to just 20–30 minutes, marking a major step toward improved connectivity and transport efficiency in the area. The project reflects President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s commitment to advancing infrastructure development under his “Build Better More” agenda.
In a report submitted by District Engineer Richard Emmanuel P. Ragragio to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, the completed project involves the concreting of a 1,004 linear meter (l.m.) × 6.70 meter roadway with 2.00 meter concrete shoulders on both sides.
It also includes the construction of 486.85 l.m. of line canal, installation of reinforced concrete pipe culverts (RCPC) measuring 32 l.m. with a 0.60 m diameter and 12 l.m. with a 0.90 m diameter, as well as 14.00 cubic meters of stone masonry and 283.00 cubic meters of concrete slope protection for added structural integrity and flood prevention.
According to DPWH Marinduque DEO, the project not only ensures smoother and safer travel for daily commuters but also stimulates local economic activity by improving the flow of goods and services and supporting tourism in the municipality.
With the completion of this project, the DPWH continues to strengthen its mission of providing reliable and sustainable infrastructure, enabling better connectivity and economic opportunities for the people of Marinduque and the entire MIMAROPA region.
