Completes Widening of Burabod Bridge in Oriental Mindoro to Boost Connectivity

To accommodate the increasing number of tourists and motorists in the municipalities of Mansalay and Bulalacao, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Southern Mindoro District Engineering Office has completed the widening of Burabod Bridge along Calapan South Road.

The project forms part of the government’s commitment under the rural development program, aimed at improving infrastructure in the region.

According to Southern Mindoro District Engineer Annielyn E. Padullo in her report to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, the completed project includes the construction of two additional lanes, the widening of the carriageway, and the installation of an approach slab, retaining walls, guardrails, and a dedicated bike lane. These enhancements are designed to improve both safety and mobility for road users.

With the upgraded Burabod Bridge, residents, traders, and travelers can expect smoother and more efficient transport of goods and services, particularly to Mansalay, its neighboring towns, and remote barangays. The addition of safety features and a dedicated pathway for cyclists also promotes road safety and encourages active transport in the community.

The project is seen as a vital step in boosting connectivity, facilitating local economic growth, and supporting the tourism industry in Oriental Mindoro.
