IN PHOTOS: New Convention Center to Transform Tacloban City

Once completed in three years, the BRICC is expected to strengthen Leyte’s position in the global MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry, paving the way for sustainable growth and development in the Eastern Visayas region.

Tacloban City in Leyte Province is set to experience a major economic and tourism boost with the construction of the Benjamin Romualdez International Convention Center (BRICC)—a world-class facility designed to accommodate up to 5,000 guests.

Strategically located on the former Leyte Park Hotel property along Magsaysay Boulevard, BRICC is expected to attract international conferences, business summits, and large-scale events, positioning Tacloban as a premier destination in the region.

With an initial budget of P750 million, the project will not only enhance the city’s infrastructure but also generate new jobs and business opportunities for local entrepreneurs, hotels, restaurants, and transport services.

House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Mayor Alfred Romualdez led the groundbreaking ceremony on February 7, 2025, marking the start of a project that promises to revitalize Tacloban’s economy and honor the legacy of former Leyte Governor Benjamin Romualdez.

Once completed in three years, the BRICC is expected to strengthen Leyte’s position in the global MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry, paving the way for sustainable growth and development in the Eastern Visayas region.
