NDRRMC: Over 2 Million Filipinos Affected by Severe Storm ‘Kristine

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that Severe Tropical Storm ‘Kristine’ has affected 2,077,643 people as of Thursday. This includes 431,738 families from 2,124 barangays across several regions, including Ilocos, Cagayan, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

The Bicol Region was the hardest hit, with 1,669,507 individuals affected.

The NDRRMC also confirmed seven deaths, four injuries, and seven people still missing due to the storm.

In total, more than 1,000 houses sustained damage, with 915 partially damaged and 92 completely destroyed.

Additionally, 296 roads and bridges were reported as impassable due to flooding, though water has receded in 44 areas.

A state of calamity was declared in at least 18 municipalities and cities.

The government has provided P21.5 million worth of assistance to the affected families.
