In a non-commissioned Pulse Asia poll conducted last month, Erwin and Ben, the brothers of Senator Raffy Tulfo, remain the strongest contenders for the Senate in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.
ACT-CIS party-list Representative Erwin Tulfo leads with 60.8 percent of respondents’ support, according to the poll conducted from September 6 to 13. Following closely is broadcaster Ben Tulfo, with 49.6 percent.
Other well-known contenders in the poll include former Senate president Vicente Sotto III (48%), Senator Pia Cayetano (41.3%), Senator Bong Go (40.3%), and former president Rodrigo Duterte (38%).
Completing the top 12 are Makati Mayor Abby Binay (37.5%), Senator Bong Revilla (35.9%), former senators Panfilo Lacson (35.5%) and Manny Pacquiao (31.9%), Senator Imee Marcos (29.8%), and Senator Ronald dela Rosa (26.2%).
With 24.7 percent, Senator Lito Lapid, who submitted his certificate of candidacy on October 2, is just outside the top 12 and remains within striking distance.
Other notable contenders who ranked lower in the Pulse Asia survey include former senator Gregorio Honasan, Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar, former senator Francis Pangilinan, Dr. Willie Ong, Davao Mayor Sebastian Duterte, and former senators Bam Aquino and Richard Gordon.
SWS Survey Findings
A separate commissioned poll by Social Weather Stations (SWS), conducted from September 14 to 23, showed slight variations. Remarkably, 10 of the top 12 candidates in this poll were from the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate, affiliated with the Marcos administration. The front-runners included Erwin Tulfo, Sotto, Cayetano, Marcos, Lacson, Revilla, Villar, Binay, Lapid, and Pacquiao.
Camille Villar showed notable improvement in the SWS poll, rising from 20th-24th place in March to 8th in September. Similarly, Abby Binay’s ranking significantly increased from 16th to 9th-10th.
The SWS survey included only 40 candidates, compared to Pulse Asia’s 74, which excluded individuals like Ben Tulfo and the Duterte siblings, Sebastian and Paolo.
