Historic Double Gold by Carlos Yulo Advances Philippines in Rankings

The Philippines’ placement in the medal standings for the 2024 Paris Olympics has improved dramatically because to Carlos Yulo’s outstanding double gold medal win. Out of 184 teams, the Philippines is now ranked 21st. With two gold medals apiece, the Philippines is currently tied with Serbia and Azerbaijan.

Yulo created history by winning two gold medals at the Olympics—the first for a Filipino athlete—in the men’s vault and men’s floor exercise thanks to his remarkable performances.

New Zealand, Hong Kong, Belgium, Croatia, Ukraine, and Sweden are among the other countries that have won two gold medals. However, these nations’ total medal counts put them ahead of the Philippines.

The United States, which moved past China on Monday, is in first place with the most medals. Both nations have won 19 gold medals, but China has won 15 silver and 11 bronze, while the United States has won 26 silver and 26 bronze.

August 11, Sunday, is the final day of the Paris Summer Games. Because of Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas’s achievements in women’s boxing, the Philippines is guaranteed at least two additional bronze medals. The men’s pole vault competition still has EJ Obiena as a serious competitor.
