The Nxled Chameleons continue to dominate the PVL All-Filipino Conference, achieving their fifth consecutive win. Their latest triumph came against the Capital1 Solar Spikers, who were bested in a straightforward match that finished 25-13, 25-20, and 25-18 at the PhilSports Arena.
Nxled's head coach, Guidetti Ettore, expressed pride in his team's performance, emphasizing their relentless hunger for victory. As the only unbeaten team in the league, the Chameleons have consistently showcased their prowess on the court, particularly in their defense and blocking strategy.
A standout player for the Chameleons was Brooke Van Sickle, who contributed 13 points, reinforcing her team’s offensive strength. In addition, Jackie Acuñia and MJ Phillips excelled defensively, each recording three blocks, which played a crucial role in stifling the Solar Spikers’ attempts to score.
Bella Belen, one of the Solar Spikers' most reliable players, struggled significantly during the match, managing to score just five points. This muted performance highlighted the effectiveness of Nxled's defensive game, which kept their opponents at bay throughout the encounter.
Jonah Sabete-Escamillan also added value to the Chameleons' performance with seven points, along with impressive defensive contributions, achieving match-highs with eight digs and ten excellent receptions.
Looking ahead, Coach Ettore remains optimistic about maintaining their momentum. He is focused on the upcoming match against Akari, a team they previously lost to, indicating their desire to improve and secure a spot in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, the Solar Spikers are reeling from their latest defeat and currently sit with a disappointing record of 2-4. Despite their efforts to bolster the team with high-profile players like Erika Santos and Vanie Gandler, the franchise has struggled to find success this season. In a separate afternoon match, Akari edged out Choco Mucho, winning 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 19-25, and 16-14, bringing their record to 3-3.
As teams prepare for the final leg of the conference, the Chameleons are firmly positioned at the top, aiming for their first league title since they finished as runners-up in the Invitational Conference earlier this year.
