Davao Mayor Baste Duterte Now Leads PDP-Laban Party

Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, the mayor of Davao City, is currently the president of PDP-Laban, one of the main political parties in the Philippines. He took the oath of office last Saturday, taking over from his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is presently being held at an ICC facility in The Hague, Netherlands.

Baste, the former president’s youngest son, swore an oath in front of Al Cusi, the vice chairman of PDP-Laban. Senator Bong Go, former Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado, and lawyer Raul Lambino were all there, along with a number of other important people.

PDP-Laban is likely to back Vice President Sara Duterte in her run for president in the 2028 national elections now that Baste is in charge of the party. Sara, Baste’s older sister, is widely thought to be a strong candidate for the highest post in the country.

Baste was also named chair of the Reform Alliance for Good Governance and Accountability, or RAGE Coalition, which started on Friday in San Juan City. PDP-Laban, Partido Reporma, and Reform PH are just a few of the entities that make up the coalition.

The group says it is a united front that works to safeguard democracy, promote honest administration, and deal with important national concerns. It says that more than 600 organizations around the country support it, including regional alliances, advocacy groups, and community movements.

Baste exhorted the members in his remarks to work together for the welfare of the Filipino people. He addressed the crowd, “I’m always here for you.”

Senator Bong Go, former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, former legislator Mike Defensor, and former Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez are among of the famous people who signed the RAGE manifesto.

Baste Duterte has swiftly become one of the most powerful politicians in the Philippines today because of his new duties.
