On the evening of March 5, 2024, users reported experiencing problems with Facebook, Instagram, and FB Messenger on Meta’s social media sites.
Worldwide media outlets have extensively reported on the pervasive disruption of service impacting these applications.
The outage began at 11:16 PM, according to Ookla’s Downdetector.com, an internet platform that tracks software and application statuses based on user feedback.
Many users were able to access the sites again after around an hour.
Andy Stone apologized for the technological error in a statement posted on Meta’s official platform.
“Earlier today, a technical issue led to difficulties in accessing some of our services. We promptly resolved the matter for those affected and apologize for any inconvenience caused,” he said.
