In an intense match at the Mall of Asia Arena, Capital1 managed to secure a thrilling come-from-behind victory over ZUS Coffee, finishing with scores of 20-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, and 15-8. This win marks Capital1's second consecutive triumph in the ongoing PVL All-Filipino Conference Pulse Series.
Bella Belen played a crucial role in the win, showcasing her impressive talent with a 29-point performance. In addition to her scoring, she contributed significantly to the team's defense, recording four blocks, 16 digs, and 15 excellent receptions. Her consistent performance has been a vital asset for Capital1 throughout the season.
This latest victory follows a remarkable 35-point game from Belen just a week earlier, where she also made important contributions defensively with 20 digs and 19 receptions during another five-set match against Akari. It highlights her resilience and ability to deliver under pressure.
Capital1's coach, Jorge de Brito, expressed his satisfaction with the team's ability to come back once again in a challenging match. This resilience has been a hallmark of Capital1, as all three of their matches so far have gone to five sets, including a disappointing loss in their season opener against Cebu on October 10.
Setter Julia Coronel voiced her appreciation for Belen's reliability in critical moments. After her transition from Galeries Tower, Coronel has quickly adapted to her new team, emphasizing the need for ongoing communication and patience as they work to build their in-game connections. She recognizes room for personal improvement but is optimistic about their growing synergy.
Meanwhile, ZUS Coffee struggles continue as they fall to a 0-2 record in the tournament. Despite their efforts, they failed to match Capital1's intensity in the decisive fifth set, leaving them still searching for their first win in the series.
