Sandro Marcos, the House Majority Leader and Representative for Ilocos Norte's 1st District, has officially left the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) to join the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD). This change comes as part of an ongoing political realignment in the Philippines under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s administration.

Reliable sources in the Philippine House of Representatives revealed that Sandro took his oath as a new member of Lakas-CMD during a ceremony held on Monday. The party is notably led by former Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Sandro has not yet issued an official statement regarding the reasons for his departure from PFP.

The transition is expected to strengthen Lakas-CMD within the House, which currently ranks as one of the largest political parties with approximately 70 members. Meanwhile, it's noteworthy that some former members of Lakas-CMD have switched to other parties, including Manila's 3rd District Representative Joel Chua, who has reportedly joined the National Unity Party (NUP), led by Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno of Antipolo City's 1st District.
