The House prosecution panel is set to investigate newly uncovered findings by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) concerning properties associated with Vice President Sara Duterte. This includes a property in Davao described as resort-like, which came to light during an ongoing impeachment trial.
On the 38th day of the proceedings, Senator-Judge Erwin Tulfo presented a video from the NBI revealing two properties listed as agricultural lands but exhibiting facilities akin to a resort.
Tulfo has requested the prosecution team to verify whether these properties were declared in Duterte's Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) and whether they are included in the examination related to the alleged P817.87 million in unexplained wealth.
House prosecutor Chel Diokno confirmed that they would scrutinize the information provided.
Forensic accounting expert Alexander Cabrera mentioned that he could not yet confirm if the properties shown in the NBI's video were included in his report, as he needs to review the titles, addresses, and sizes of these properties.
Cabrera noted that the valuation of one of the properties seemed high due to features like swimming pools, but emphasized that thorough verification of documents is necessary.
Previously, Cabrera estimated the unexplained wealth attributed to Duterte and her husband, Atty. Manases "Mans" Carpio, between 2022 and 2025 based on available records from banks, taxes, insurance, property, and corporations.
As of now, there is no final conclusion on whether the properties identified by the NBI were part of the earlier assessments of the alleged unexplained wealth connected to Duterte and Carpio.
